How to replace fixed lever ball joints

Dismantle the ball joint – take off the retaining washer and  pull out the rod with the teflon liner (pic. 4).

Measure the fitting height of the new ball joint and cut the excess off the lever so after folding you can easily install the lock ring as shown in pic 5. This operation should preferably be performed on a milling machine to preserve the parallelism of planes at the both sides of the lever.

Rebore on a milling machine the fitting diameter for a ball joint (pic. 6). After reboring the fitting diametre of the lever must be 0.2 mm smaller of that of the ball joint.

If the ball joint comes pre-assembled and the anther interferes with the fitting of the lever, remove the anther before the fitting (pic. 7)

Fold the new ball joint into the rod. Check if there is sufficient lubrication in the ball joint and add grease for ball joints if necessary (pic. 8).

 The innovative approach to the production of details, particularly arm bushings, is combined with the core principle: if anything is to be changed in the original design of a spare part or in material selection, it may only be done for the sake of improvement.

Unlike many competitors, it is flexible arm bushings that Febest always manufactures as an alternative to original flexible arm bushings, and it is hydraulic arm bushings that are produced to replace the hydraulic originals. Often competitors, for the sake of greater earnings, advise their customers to mount an ordinary arm bushing where a hydraulic one should be mounted. Steering rack boots produced by Febest can be installed on any car model. This makes them extremely popular among car repair companies.

It is common practice for service stations to always have them available. After all, such a problem as a rupture of a steering rack boot, or its substantial damage often becomes visible when the vehicle is already on the lift and some kind of repair works not related to steering racks are being performed. This is exactly the case, in the absence of a steering rack boot just for a concrete model when the Febest universal steering rack boot becomes the perfect solution.

While universal steering rack boots produced by Febest and sold under the article FERKB-001 are ideally suitable for some car models, in most other cases, in order for the boots to take their place on the steering rack, they must be optimally fine-tuned during installation. That is, in case of necessity, boots have to be trimmed around the edges, depending on the thickness of the steering rack.

To fix the Febest universal boot on the steering rack, use the clamps attached. The article FERKB-001 also includes a special cone through which the boot can be put on the steering rack without being damaged. To achieve this, the cone is placed on the thread of the tie rod and the boot is put on the steering rack through the cone (the old cone, respectively, is cut off beforehand). In so doing, the tie rod remains in its place, and thanks to that, after replacing the boot there is no need for a wheel alignment. Car service stations that do not have a wheel alignment stand, will find this a very weighty argument in favour of using universal steering rack boots in their work.

As well as original steering rack boots, Febest products are made of high-quality rubber. Febest produces all its spare parts taking into account the harsh climatic conditions of northern regions. The rubber formula is based on natural raw rubber with the use of additives, which allows the product to operate at extremely low temperatures. How to install the VWCB-TOUAR overhung bearing

Place the vehicle on a car lift.

1. Label the position of the shaft on the vehicle.

2.  Detach the surface from the overhung bearing.

3. Flare the C.V. joint and detach the metal anther.

4. Open the locking ring of the CV joint, and put a mark on the front and the rear parts of the cardan, detach the cardan.

5. Remove the overhung bearing in a most convenient way.

6. Install a new VWCB-TOUAR overhung bearing, trying not to mix up the mounting sides (!) – the wider side of the rubber must be facing forward.

7. If necessary, replace the grease in the CV joint. Febest recommends Fe-Grease, produced by the company itself, which is highly valued by car owners and experts.

8. Connect the two parts of the cardan shaft using the previously put marks. Verify that the locking ring of the CV joint fixes the splined joint.

9. Fold the anther of the CV joint.

10. Mount the surface of the overhung bearing onto the cardan.

11. Install the cardan in accordance with the marks onto the car.

12. Fasten the cardan surface to the car body, not tightening the bolts.

13. Start the engine and begin movement (on the lift!). Align the shaft support of the cardan shaft along the mounting surface to eliminate the risk of the cardan shaft shifting and knocking against other details.

14. Tighten the bolts of the cardan shaft surface.

15. Take the car off the car lift.

Note again that ignoring one or more installation phases, e.g. replacing the grease, putting the marks, aligning the surface, not to mention choosing the correct mounting side, results in malfunctioning or even failure of the detail.

In 2015, car sales in the EU rose to 13,713,526 pcs, i.e. 9.3 per cent compared with the previous year. The EU market has been showing growth for the 28th consecutive month, and in December of the last year it amounted to 16.6%, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association reports.

In December 2015, the car market in the EU showed a significant recovery (+16.6%) and reached 1,109 927 pcs. In almost all countries (except Ireland) markets showed growth.

Second place was taken by PSA Group (10,6% of the market), which includes such makes as Peugeot, Citroen and DS. The Group sold 1,488,819 cars in the past year (+6.2%). On third place is Renault Group (Renault and Dacia, 9,7% of the market) – 1,334,556 cars manufactured (+9,2%). The top 5 also includes European Ford (7,3% of the market) – 999,224 pcs (+8,6%) and Opel Group (Opel/Vauxhall, Chevrolet etc., 6,8% of the market) — 928,712 pcs (+2,4%).

For example, the arm bushing product line for various Honda models include three interchangeable articles: HAB-110 (standard option), HAB-110F («fortified»), and HAB-110RACE (for extreme operating conditions). The three externally almost identical arm bushings differ by the structure of the used rubber. 


The arm bushing for the rear arm of different Honda models HAB-110RACE – is particularly resistant to stress due to the special formula of the rubber. For less extreme operating conditions you can choose the standard option of the same arm bushing - HAB-110, or HAB-110F («fortified»). 

Original steering tie rods have a slot for fixing a steering seal. The left and the right seals are different in length, but the original left and right rods are only different in where the slot is.
